The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is hosting two workshops in early 2012, one in Anchorage, Alaska, and one in Seattle, Washington, for operators of seafood processing facilities that operate in Alaska or in Alaskan coastal waters regulated under the DEC Alaska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (APDES) permit program.
Purpose: The workshops will provide information on new APDES permitting requirements for the Seafood Sector in Alaska, provide compliance assistance, and answer questions regarding seafood processing waste permits, including three general permits:
· Permit AKG521000 - Coastal Fish Waste Discharges to Marine Water General Permit (in development for facilities located on shore and floating vessels within ½ mile of shore) · Permit AKG523000 – Alaska Offshore Seafood Processors General Permit (floating vessels more than ½ mile from shore to 3 miles from shore or baseline) · Permit AKG525000 - Fish Waste Discharges to Freshwater General Permit (in development for facilities located on shore that discharge to freshwater or certain estuaries) Tentative dates for the two-day workshops are:

In your email response, please indicate which workshop you would attend (Anchorage or Seattle or both) and the number of attendees who will participate from your organization. Questions about the workshops can also be directed to the email address above.
DEC will use this information to select a venue based on the estimated number of attendees.
